kbar29: A look back in time

After reading the book I had stumbled on a few pages with actual images if Christopher Scott Kyle.I ended up looking at them, and It actually shows him when he was a kid up to the point when he got married. What I thought was the most funny picture in there was a(n) image of him as a toddler holding up a plastic gun, and under it was a text saying "Stick 'em up, Yankee. . ." Trust me It is more funny than it sounds. Then from that picture on, the book slowly shows him getting older in each picture. He's mostly doing different activities in the pictures, but you can still tell that he is ageing. I just though it was nice to see a set of pictures that also act like a timeline throughout the years.

Kbar28: 9/11

In the beginning of the catalog(chapter) when it included the date " September 11th". I just got uneasy, even though I wasn't even alive in 2001. Just that date in literally any book, magazine, or show refers back to the terrorist attack. I have yet to see any thing that hasn't. Well after Christ slept in on his day off, his girlfriend called him over to watch the news. Apparently he had also been sleeping through all the calls and messages his base ( Navy) was trying to send him, to get his attention. On his way down the coastline to get back to San Diego, a cop pulls him over. ( Talk about luck, right.) The cop pulls him over, makes him go through all the procedures. Like "can I see your drivers license and registration" , blah, blah, blah. Until Kyle finally tells him that he is a Navy member, Then the officer tests him by asking what position he was in. Christ said he was a seal. Then that's when the officer jumped into his car, turned on his lights, and escorted Christopher to as far as his jurisdiction would take him.

Kbar27: Got Caught Chewing.

Well Chris got excepted. After being excepted into BUD/S after completing Indoc. He got caught. Apparently Chris is a huge fan of chewing tobacco. He mostly prefers to chew Copenhagen. One day while doing a run, he was chilling in the middle of his squad, thinking that he wouldn't get in trouble. All of a sudden an instructor came up and talked to him. Then noticed he was chewing something. I found this to be extremely bad luck, considering that he wasn't expecting too be busted in the first place. Chris's punishment was doing push ups, but every time he'd go down he would have too take a big bite of Copenhagen's(The whole container was found in his sock.) and swallow.

Kbar26: Indoc

After Chris gets out of the boot camp. He joins "Indoc", which is basically an introduction to BUD/S. (Basic Under Water Demolition/ Seal) As he is in Indoc he Notices the candidates who are already in BUD/S, and notices that he needs to train even harder in order to join. Which I can relate to ,because sometimes you see or know that you want to do something. So the only way to get it is to work hard at getting it.

Human Agency

" Which shapes a person's life more, human agency or forces beyond our control. "

I would choose forces beyond our control. Whatever that force may be. Forces like the whether, time, or  how people run the government. Stuff like that, kids our age have no control over. People older than us call all the shots. Just because we'er still young.

Kbar25: Swimming lessons.

Chris claimed that he could already swim, and that joining seal helped him perfect that art. Personally to me, swimming is not that hard. It may be challenging for some people, But when you get the basics. (It isn't that hard.) I can imagine how tough it must have been to start learning how to swim. Considering that Chris lived in Texas for a huge majority of his life. Especially since Texas isn't that close to an ocean.

Kbar24: Bootcamp?

After he had finished his basic training for becoming a seal. The people that had control over him, ended up putting Chris into a boot camp. Mainly to prepare him for being on a ship. What I though was funny was the fact that he actually gained wait, and got out of shape. (while he was doing the boot camp.) I guess that makes a little bit of sense considering that you do almost nothing on a ship.
The way Christopher Kyle described it. Was that it was easier compared to working on a ranch, and more boring than he expected it to be.
